Karen Thomas is a contemporary artist working predominantly in graphite, with a particular interest in birds, animals and the natural world.
Karen has been working professionally as an artist since 1990 across a range of creative fields including published illustration in England and Ireland, Art facilitation, private commissions, demonstrations and workshops.
Having a passion for conservation and connection with the natural world, is central, to both her artwork and the subjects she chooses to explore.
While graphite is at the heart of her practice, she also works with charcoal and mixed media.
Through demonstrations, Karen enjoys sharing not only the techniques and processes behind her work, but also the thinking and observation that underpin it.
Karen aims to make demonstrations informative, engaging and enjoyable, whether exploring graphite techniques, drawing animals and birds, or developing a finished piece from initial observation through to completion.
