Justine Lois Thorpe
Justine is a professional abstract & semi-abstract artist whose work is defined by her energetic, expressive & spontaneous style, often inspired by her curiosity of nature’s elements, their effect on each other and on her own physical & emotional connection with nature.
Influenced by her formative years in St Agnes, Cornwall, she draws inspiration from the West Country coast, exploring nautical themes such as seascapes, landscapes, boats, harbours, coastlines, wetlands & estuaries.
Working primarily in oils, Justine approaches her medium with boldness & creativity.
She begins each piece by sketching with oil bars, pastels & charcoal on gesso panels, linen canvases, or paper. These initial drawings evolve into dynamic contemporary paintings, layered with thick oil paint and marked by her distinctive use of colour and confident sense of composition.
With over thirteen years of experience, Justine has frequently demonstrated her techniques before live audiences at events including the Stanley Kubrick Estate’s Childwickbury Art Fair and Art in Action. She has also exhibited with the Society of Women Artists and conducted painting demonstrations at the prestigious Mall Galleries in London.
Justine’s artistic career is further enriched by her background in fashion design and formal education at Middlesex University. These experiences have contributed to her unique creative voice and enhanced her reputation as a contemporary artist.
