Jill Iliffe is a professional artist based in Hampshire, near the Surrey border. Jill gained a BA in Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art and then an MA in Drawing at the University of the Arts London, she also has a teaching Cert Ed. She is also a member of the Society of Graphic Arts.
Jill has a wealth of experience in art demonstration and teaching art to adults, whilst also working in her studio on art commissions and for galleries. Jill works in a traditional way, building up layers, working on detail, creating a three-dimensional effect. She wants the eye to not be overwhelmed with extraneous information and she tends to keep her backgrounds clean and contemporary. Jill’s art includes many themes, including portraiture, still life, life drawing, landscape, the animals, birds and butterflies and work that references nostalgia. Her mediums are watercolour, gouache, oil, acrylic, egg tempera and drawing mediums, such as graphite, pens and charcoal.
Jill has exhibited widely and she is represented by commercial galleries across the country. She has also exhibited in several notable museums including the V&A, The People’s Museum Manchester, Rugby Museum, Watt’s Gallery and also at well-known venues such as The Mall Galleries, The Menier Gallery and Bankside Gallery. In 2019 the National Heritage Fund purchased her painting for the permanent collection of The National Football Museum. In 2020 Jill took part in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year.
