I was born in London and received my art training in Brighton and London where I graduated with a BA. Hons in illustration. I later gained a PGCE from Huddersfield University.

I was a commercial artist for over 20 years specialising in book and magazine work. I later taught art and design for several North of England colleges.

I work mainly in watercolour and have had 2 'one man' shows and was part of the recent North Yorks Open Studio's scheme. I teach and demonstrate for art societies and clubs including the Yorkshire and District Society of Amateur Artists and I am a professional tutor for the SAA.

I have taught on painting holidays in Spain and Greece and I am a regular art tutor for the annual Marlborough Summer School. My work is in private collections in the UK and abroad, including commissioned portraits for Queen Mary University and The Reform Club in London.

In 2001 I was awarded 1st prize in the nationwide competition for Daler Rowney and IPC magazines with 'Boy and Stickleback' - this can be seen on my website

I believe good teaching is based on experience, planning, knowledge and communication, plus kindness, inspiration, empathy and lots of fun!
