Sheila studied Art at Southdown's College, Portsmouth and then obtained her teaching qualifications F.E.T.C. Stage 1 and 2 in 1984. H.C.C. Observation Grade 1 in 2008. She has three ongoing classes for adult education, and has tutored painting holidays at Flatford Mill (Constable country).
She is now concentrating on organizing and tutoring her own Painting Holidays at Hay-on-Wye, Herefordshire, The New Forest and Fareham, Hampshire. She also gives demonstrations and workshops to Art Groups.
Sheila paints various subjects including landscape, seascape, townscape, portraits, animals, flowers and trees. She enjoys working in watercolour, oils, acrylics, including the New Atelier Interactive acrylics, pen and wash and mixed media.
She draws her inspiration from her surroundings. She is lucky to live in a heritage area with its ships, buildings, countryside and coastline. Her grandchildren are a constant inspiration and they appear in many of her paintings.
Sheila's lighthearted approach to painting is infectious, her passion and enthusiasm and experience combined with her patient and friendly manner ensures that others are able to gain knowledge to complete beautiful paintings.
She believes that learning the techniques of painting, whether it's applying a watercolour wash or being able to correct a painting, is paramount to the learning process.
Sheila is available for demonstrations and workshops. Or why not try one of Sheila's painting holidays (details...). For more information please visit her website www.purplepainting.co.uk
