I trained at Central School of Art & Design where I qualified with a BA (Hons) in graphic design. I worked as an illustrator for many years in editorial and publishing before turning to oils.

I then started exhibiting at the National Portrait Gallery, Mall Galleries and others and began teaching and running painting holidays.  Commissions for trains and planes led me back to illustrating and I now write, illustrate and self publish a series of books on steam engines too.

I love variety and find that loose watercolour painting, impressionistic landscapes and humorous cartooning balances nicely with slow focused painting of more detailed subjects. I also runs a monthly kids club and my sons enjoy artistic professions too. My eldest son won the prestigious Threadneedle Award.

I like plein air painting and I'm always happy to do demos, chat about painting and encourage others.

Based in Hertfordshire Pauline is happy to travel to groups upto 1 hours driving distance from Hertford.
