Line and wash

I first began painting at school when I was lucky enough to have a very inspirational art-master.

On leaving school I spent a short time in the British Army and then entered Portsmouth School of Architecture, which at that time was part of the College of Art and then eventually qualified RIBA in 1975.

I have been in private practice most of my professional career having designed or been involved with most types of buildings, from a church to a prison and everything in between. During this time I have always painted in my spare time.

In 1997 I married the well known artist Wendy Jelbert and so, from then on, I have been painting more and especially when on holiday abroad. Many of my paintings are using a pen and wash technique although I also enjoy straight-forward watercolour, especially for landscapes.
