Paul Oakley

Landscapes, Seascapes, Still Life

Paul Oakley is a self-taught artist living and working in Wiltshire. Specialising in oil painting, Paul is predominantly a landscape artist and developed his painting style through studying the works of artists such as Edward Seago and his contemporaries. He enjoys being out in the elements capturing a moment in the landscape as well as painting in his studio – which is a traditional Shepherd’s Hut. Paul also enjoys painting still life and is always looking for new ways to paint everyday objects.

In 2017 Paul attained a Diploma in oil painting from the Norfolk Painting School which has added a greater technical understanding of this medium. Paul regularly exhibits, in particular as part of Marlborough Open Studios.

Paul would be delighted to visit your art group or society for a demonstration or to run workshops. He would be pleased to demonstrate a landscape or seascape in oils, using an impressionist or more contemporary technique. He would equally be happy to demonstrate a still life using either a traditional approach or something more modern. His aim is for each demonstration to be fun and instructive.

He would also be happy to discuss arranging a workshop for your group. This could be one of the specialist day courses which he runs from his studio or one tailored to you group’s needs. More details can be found on his studio website

Paul is the director of Pewsey Vale Studio, which is dedicated to teaching oil painting within small groups, allowing for one to one tuition. The Studio holds a number of day courses for complete beginners and more serious artists to develop their painting skills. As detailed on his website, he would be delighted to bring any of his courses to your group.

Paul is based near Marlborough and is happy to travel around 50 miles to visit your group or society.
